WIntern FAQ’s
What is a Micro-Campus Partnership?
A Micro Campus Partnership (RockRidge Canyon + PLBC) allows church-based internship, discipleship, or leadership training programs to offer PLBC courses for credit as part of their program.
How does it work?
This Micro Campus Partnership merges the best of what PLBC does well (teaching great content with high-quality assessment for credit), with what we do best (on-site leadership training).
How are the micro campus courses structured?
All courses are 15 weeks long, of which 12 weeks require a class gathering with a recorded video provided by PLBC. Students will be able to choose 2 of the 6 offered courses. The local program director (RRC) uses class time for the other three weeks at their discretion. Students taking the courses for credit complete assignments and exams in addition to the weekly video class. All assignments are given feedback and marked by PLBC faculty.
What Courses are available?

How is the Program Delivered?
Courses are streamed online, which is also where students find their assignments and course instructions.
What kind of Student Support is available?
PLBC offers a variety of student support options, from enrolment assistance, to program advising for degree completion. Specifically, a PLBC faculty member is assigned to each Micro-Campus course and is available to answer any questions pertaining to the course to aid the student toward successful completion. The Student Support Office is also accessible to Micro-Campus students to assist them in their academic journey.
Can Students Receive Credit for their internship too?
Yes. Students can receive up to 9 credits for the part of the internship or discipleship program that is delivered by the local ministry in addition to the credits received for taking the PLBC courses.
What kinds of students can participate?
- The student must have completed a high school diploma, or at least 18 years of age.
- The student must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ
- The student must apply to RRC online and be accepted. As well participants that also want to take PLBC courses for credit must meet PLBC’s admission requirements. The requirements are available at https://pacificlife.edu/admissions/admission-requirements/
- Once you are accepted for Winter Internship by RRC, the student will apply to PLBC and select Micro Campus as their program.
What do PLBC Micro-Campus Courses cost?
Course tuition – $325 per course, which is more than a 50% discount when student fees are factored. Tuition is paid to the internship organization, which then directs funds to PLBC.
Financial Aid – Micro Campus students might be eligible to receive federal financial aid (grants and loans) for tuition costs if they meet the requirements.
What will I earn at RockRidge Canyon?
Winter Interns will receive a $425 per month volunteer stipend, plus Room and Board is included on site for 4 months.
What kind of things will the internship at RRC involve?
In a typical week, about 20 hours will be dedicated to classes, reading and studying. The other 20 hours interns will be assisting our housekeeping team in cleaning, laundry, and providing excellent guest experiences. Some other days might be assisting in the kitchen, doing food and dining room prep, washing of dishes and other jobs that help our food team provide amazing meals to our guests.
What about the evenings?
In the evening interns are welcome to enjoy the property & facilities. There will be an opportunity to spend time with the property staff on the occasional outings. Princeton is just a 20 min drive away, with cross country ski trails, great restaurants and public services.
Where would I live?
We provide interns a quiet space to live in our lower level of Nicola Lodge. Club 56 lounge is available exclusively for interns, designed for hanging out and community building.
Is food provided?
When there are groups here, we eat at the same time, in our staff and volunteer Lakeview dining room.
When there are no groups here, breakfasts & dinners are self serve. Lunches and are prepared.
